Title:  Coloring Outside the Lines: Alternative Therapies as Behavioral Health Treatment Options

The use of alternative therapy approaches can be extremely helpful to people living with a mental health or substance use disorder. Many, although not all, of these therapies are evidence based and provide a viable and different path to achieve health and balance.  There are many complementary and alternative therapies that have received a great deal of attention and many have proven therapeutic benefits. The more common alternative therapies include: Nutrition Therapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Art/Music/Dance Therapy and Wilderness Therapy, just to name a few. In this session, we are going to explore the benefits of 3 therapeutic approaches that are considered alternative: Trauma Release Exercise (TRE), Exposure Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), and Sand Tray Therapy, as a way to effectively reach patients in need.

Panelists:
Robert DeLetis, CADC, Director of Exposure Response Prevention at BlueSky Behavioral Health
