Title: The Fire in the Basement: Trauma and Treatment Strategies
Presenter: Aaron Wilson, MD

Trauma is a biologically complex disorder and is often the underlying reason contributing to mental health disorders and addiction pathology.   Please join us as our presenter, will explore the neurobiology of trauma and provide up-to-date treatment modalities for PTSD.

Objectives:

*Formulate a practical, working understanding of trauma neurobiology
*Identify 4 specific modalities for the effective treatment of nervous system dysregulation
*Identify the connection between the central nervous system as it relates to mental health

Aaron Wilson, MD, was named chief medical officer at Sierra Tucson in February 2018. Previously the medical director at Valley Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital in Phoenix, AZ, he led the facility’s Freedom Care Unit. Dr. Wilson worked closely with active-duty personnel, veterans, retired military, police officers, firefighters, border patrol agents, Department of Corrections staff, and EMTs. He earned his medical degree in 2007 at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, and completed his psychiatry residency at the Tulane University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He currently serves as president of the Arizona Psychiatric Society.
