Sierra Tucson Provides Hope to Depression Sufferers Through Innovative TMS Therapy

Sierra Tucson – Ranked #1 in Newsweek’s list of Best Addiction Treatment Centers in Arizona for 2020!

TUCSON, Ariz. (March 14, 2016) – Sierra Tucson, a pioneer in innovative treatment and integrative therapies, is the first residential treatment provider to offer NeuroStar TMS Therapy® (transcranial magnetic stimulation) for the treatment of depression.

TMS Therapy is a clinically proven alternative for adults who have not benefited from standard treatments, including antidepressant medication. In clinical studies, one out of two patients reported a significant improvement in symptoms, and one in three patients were completely symptom-free. Patients also experienced long-lasting symptom relief over a 12-month period.

Learn more about Sierra Tucson’s TMS therapy

Since Sierra Tucson’s medical professionals conduct TMS Therapy on site, patients receive the benefit of close monitoring and staff support. The 40-minute treatment session is administered while the individual is awake and alert, and he or she can generally resume normal activities immediately following treatment. Since TMS Therapy is a non-invasive technique that targets brain regions, patients do not experience the negative side effects often associated with antidepressant medications.

“This program is a significant benefit to our residents, serves as a meaningful differentiator in terms of the treatment programs we offer, and keeps Sierra Tucson on the cutting edge of medical science,” said Michael Genovese, MD, JD, chief medical officer at Sierra Tucson.
