As part of the heightened preventive measures we have put in place in response to COVID-19, Sierra Tucson in Tucson, Arizona, is now offering services via telephone and virtual communication platforms to ensure the safety of our residents, their family members, and our staff.
What Is Telehealth?
Learn about the benefits of telehealth
The term telehealth encompasses a variety of services that do not require providers and participants to be in the same room at the same time. The telehealth solutions we’ve implemented at Sierra Tucson are consistent with our goals of expanding access to care, providing world-class service, and ensuring that our residents and their loved ones receive superior support throughout their time with us.
Depending on which telehealth service you are taking part in, you can participate either over the phone or via computer. Some telehealth services involve video communication so that you can see the person with whom you are interacting, while others are voice-only, just like a phone call.
Examples of telehealth options at Sierra Tucson include telehealth assessments, telehealth programming, and telehealth visitation:
- If you or someone you care about has been struggling with a substance use disorder or a mental health concern, our telehealth assessment service can help you determine the type and level of care that’s right for you or your loved one.
- If you wish to participate in our partial hospitalization program (PHP) or our intensive outpatient program (IOP), but you cannot be on our campus, our telehealth programming option adds a virtual communication component to these outpatient services.
- If a close friend or family member is receiving treatment at Sierra Tucson, our telehealth visitation service can allow you to visit with your loved one without requiring you to come to our campus in Tucson, Arizona.
The many benefits of telehealth include flexibility and convenience, greater access to services, and the ability for individuals to take part from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
Telehealth Assessments
Telehealth assessment process at Sierra Tucson in Tucson, AZ
At Sierra Tucson, we understand that one of the most important factors in choosing a treatment provider is finding the facility that best meets your unique needs. To ensure that we’re the right place for any individual who seeks treatment with us, we conduct detailed assessments prior to accepting new residents.
Our telehealth service allows you to complete this part of the pre-admission process either over the phone or via a virtual assessment. Here’s a quick outline of how it works:
- You can start the process by contacting us at your convenience. A member of our team is available to speak with you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Either on the phone or through a video discussion, the professional who conducts your assessment will ask you a few questions. Common topics include your treatment history, what types of symptoms you’ve been experiencing, and how these symptoms have been impacting your life. You will also talk about what you want to accomplish through treatment.
- It’s important to remember that your telehealth assessment is a two-way conversation. During your phone call or video assessment, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and get detailed answers about treatment, recovery, and other relevant topics.
- Based on the information you provide, the professional who conducts your assessment will recommend the type and level of care that will best meet your specific needs.
- If Sierra Tucson is the perfect fit, you can discuss admission details. If our professional determines that another facility may be better prepared to address your needs, you can get information about appropriate referrals to other trusted providers.
Our telehealth assessment service is provided free of charge. Taking part in this assessment does not obligate you to enter treatment at Sierra Tucson or at any other facility to which you may be referred. The goals of this service are to determine if our facility has the programming you need and to provide you with the details that will allow you to make the most informed decision.
Telehealth Programming
Telehealth programming at Sierra Tucson in Tucson, AZ
Sierra Tucson offers two levels of outpatient care: a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). These levels of care are designed for individuals who do not need 24-hour care or who can benefit from step-down support after completing our residential program.
Individuals who take part in our PHP or IOP follow personalized treatment plans that may include individual, group, and family therapies.
To promote increased access to our services, we now offer a telehealth programming option for our PHP and IOP. PHP and IOP participants who choose this option can benefit from various forms of telehealth psychiatry without having to travel to our treatment facility in Tucson, Arizona.
When you receive telehealth therapy through our PHP or IOP, you will work with the same experienced and compassionate professionals who provide services to our on-campus PHP and IOP participants.
Before you start outpatient care via our telehealth programming option, a member of our team will review all the details with you so that you’ll be prepared to fully engage in this dynamic telehealth service.
Telehealth Visitation
Telehealth visitation at Sierra Tucson in Tucson, AZ
One of the many benefits of residential treatment is that this level of care offers the opportunity to step away from the stresses and distractions of everyday life so that you can focus on your health. But it’s still important to retain a connection with those who care about you.
At Sierra Tucson, we understand that the support of family members and close friends can be invaluable during an individual’s time in treatment. Our telehealth visitation service, which is sometimes referred to as virtual visitation, promotes productive communication with family members and close friends while protecting the safety of all participants.
A telehealth visitation session at Sierra Tucson is similar to a video chat or a videoconference. You can see your loved ones, they can see you, and you can speak to one another as if you were all in the same room together. But as with other forms of virtual communication, when you take part in a telehealth visitation session, your loved ones don’t need to be on our campus or even in the same city or state.
When health concerns, mobility issues, geographical distance, or other factors make in-person visits difficult or impossible, Sierra Tucson is proud to provide telehealth visitation sessions for our residents and their loved ones. To learn more about telehealth visitation or any of our other telehealth services, please contact us at your convenience.
