Peter Vernezze PhD, LCSW
Specialty Therapist
After retiring as an emeritus professor of philosophy (Weber State University), Dr. Peter Vernezze (Ph.D. University of Washington) earned a Masters of Social Work from Arizona State University and embarked on a second career as a therapist, where he combines his academic interest in world wisdom traditions in general and Buddhist psychology in particular with the practice of psychotherapy. Peter is a meditation teacher trained in the Shambhala tradition as well as a qualified teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the University of California at San Diego Center for Mindfulness. In addition, he is a certified Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIC-CSp) with a specialization in trauma, and on the national provider roster for Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
He has served as a Peace Corps volunteer in China, a Fulbright scholar in India, and a scholar-in-residence at Naropa University, the first accredited Buddhist university in America. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, camping, and doing manual labor for his wife’s garden.
