Sierra Tucson Chooses New Chief Operations Officer

Top drug addiction treatment center installs Dane Binder as COO.

TUCSON, Ariz. (Oct. 1, 2020) — Sierra Tucson, one of the nation’s premier behavioral health disorder treatment centers, has named Dane Binder, M.S., its chief operations officer.

Binder joins Sierra Tucson after a lengthy stint at Mobile Acute Crisis Teams, where he rose from behavioral health technician to clinician, supervisor, regional senior manager, and, eventually, regional director. In the latter role, he oversaw the administration and operations of various integrated behavioral health programs across multiple levels of care throughout three counties in southern Arizona.

Prior to those roles, Binder worked in retail management before joining the healthcare industry as a home visitor for newborns at risk of adverse outcomes.

“I have a passion for healthcare and enjoy improving systems to optimize quality,” Binder said. “Sierra Tucson is renowned for their medical and clinical expertise, and I’m beyond excited to find opportunities to enhance the already outstanding services we provide.”

Binder’s experience working across systems has led to quality clinical outcomes and increased business opportunities at his previous stops. He served as a member of the Pima County Overdose Fatality Review Committee, presented on suicide and Title 36 processes at Pima County Law Enforcement Crisis Intervention Training, and worked with the Pima County Attorney’s Office on various diversion initiatives.

He took the lead in developing and managing a naloxone distribution system across southern Arizona that resulted in dozens of confirmed opioid overdose reversals. Binder is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

“Dane brings a unique combination of valuable clinical and leadership experience that will add to our ability to address dynamic challenges in healthcare,” said Sierra Tucson CEO Valerie Kading, DNP, MBA, MSN, PMHNP-BC. “I have full confidence he will elevate our already successful day-to-day operational processes and clinical offerings at Sierra Tucson and maintain our status as a leader in healthcare.”
