Title: A Brief Introduction to Radically Open DBT

Speaker: Anne M. Gresham, RN, CNS

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based practice that has been researched for over 20 years in Europe and is now being disseminated in the US.  The treatment is designed to help patients with disorders of “over-control” such as:  treatment resistant depression, anorexia nervosa, and, possibly, autism spectrum disorders and obsessive compulsive personality disorder. This workshop will introduce you to the research behind the model and the treatment structure and goals.

Attendees for this intermediate presentations are behavioral healthcare professionals in private practice and treatment program clinical directors/staff.

Objectives:
*Explain the history and research behind the model
*Define "over-control"
*Describe the symptoms of a disorder of "over-control"
*List the main goals and strategies of the treatment

Anne Gresham, RN, CNS is a therapist and national trainer of Standard DBT and now Radically Open DBT.  She, along with her business partner, own and operate DBT Associates in the Minneapolis area of Minnesota.  The two of them have trained thousands of mental health professionals across the country, with most reporting that “it was the best training I have ever attended”.   In addition, Anne has had a long history of working with survivors and offenders of sexual and other types of abuse as well as having been a psychiatric prescriber, working with all mental illnesses.
