Title: Revisioning: Rapid Treatment of Grief and Trauma through Activation of the Mirror Neuron System

Speaker: Mark Rider, Ph.D., M.S. Psychopharmacology

This workshop will demonstrate one of the first psychotherapies to target the mirror neuron system. Revisioning is the use of simulated re-attachment using a mirror, photos, and drawings to re-integrate 1) lost loved ones for prolonged grief or, 2) split ego states for trauma. Research has shown that this treatment for grief and trauma can be much faster and complete than other conventional therapies. Revisioning is also one of the first treatments for PTSD which does not require the client to relive the trauma.

Description of target audience:  Behavioral Healthcare Professionals/Intermediate to Advanced Instruction

Objectives:
*Name two functional brain regions associated with Revisioning
*Set up the prop for Revisioning with grief and trauma clients
*Name two ego integration statements used in Revisioning

Dr. Mark Rider is a medical psychologist in the DFW metroplex.  He has developed one of first psychotherapy techniques to target the mirror neuron system. Revisioning has become a rapid way to treat PTSD, Prolonged Grief, Developmental Trauma, and DID. He previously taught music therapy at SMU and Montana State U. Some of his books include Revisioning: Rapid Mirror Neuron Psychotherapy for Grief and Trauma and The Rhythmic Language of Health and Disease. He has published in numerous scholarly journals and presented at hundreds of conferences. Currently the Revisioning Center for Grief and Trauma is training therapists and hospitals on a national level.
