"The Value and Necessity of Play"

November 2, 2016

Presenter:

Elizabeth Devine, M.Ed., LPC-S

Event Description:

How was play valued in your home of origin? Was childhood a time of exploration, losing yourself in the flow of an experience, and wonder? Were you given ample time and encouragement to manipulate your environment and engage in activities that allowed you to exercise your imagination, relax and simply be? Do you experience anything like this now as an adult? Do you give yourself permission to?

Utilizing content from Dr. Stuart Brown's book, “Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul,” participants will explore their natural tendencies to engage in activities that are playful and the types of play that are most attractive to each person individually.

Elizabeth Devine, M.Ed., LPC-S, is the Clinical Director of Innovation360 Austin, an organization that offers support, encouragement and guidance to people via therapeutic, meaningful, and, yes, playful relationships. Her specialized training as a play therapist has allowed her to see firsthand how engaging in seemingly non-productive activities fosters relationship and healing for participants of all ages.

This is a complimentary event for Sierra Tucson Resident & Family Member Alumni. We ask that you please register by Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
