Residential Mood & Anxiety Treatment Program

For individuals aged 18 and older, who are struggling with the debilitating symptoms of a mood or anxiety disorder, Sierra Tucson’s Mood & Anxiety Program is designed to address the unique challenges associated with these groups of disorders. The highly skilled staff at Sierra Tucson is fully equipped to treat those who suffer from disorders such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and bipolar disorder, among a number of other conditions. Additionally, we provide individualized treatment for personality disorders.

At Sierra Tucson, we recognize that those with personality or mood disorders frequently struggle with co-occurring disorders, such as trauma, addiction, or chronic pain. For this reason, our staff uses an interdisciplinary team approach that incorporates both conventional and complementary evidence-based treatments to support each individual’s recovery process. Our integrative system of neuropsychiatric treatment focuses on holistic healing of the body, mind, and spirit, as well as provides comprehensive medical and clinical care.

During your treatment stay, you will benefit from a wide range of medical and clinical services that simultaneously treat co-occurring conditions. With so many modalities available to help uncover and address underlying issues, you will find new opportunities for increased self-discovery, healing, and happiness. Furthermore, you will learn how to better connect with your emotions, your mind, and your body. Additional therapies and services available to all residents in this program include:

  • Group and individual therapy
  • Medication evaluation and safe detox (if needed)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which teaches mindfulness, interpersonal skills, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

As part of the individualized care we offer, your admissions process will begin in Desert Flower, our secure medical assessment and stabilization unit. You will meet with our psychiatrists and nurses to receive a comprehensive assessment that includes a physical exam, psychiatric evaluations, a skin assessment, and optional genetic testing. To provide the attention and safety you deserve, this unit is conveniently located in the center of our campus and offers the opportunity for a bi-directional continuum of care within our levels of treatment.

Residents of the Mood & Anxiety Program also receive a complete diagnostic assessment wherein the multidisciplinary team will develop and coordinate your individualized treatment plan. The extensive experience and training of our compassionate staff enable us to provide the highest quality of care for your emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. The treatment team meets regularly to assess and review individual progress, sharing insights from their areas of expertise and collaborating to update your treatment plan. This continual reassessment provides optimized treatment to simultaneously address both your mood/anxiety disorder and any co-occurring disorders.

The overall goal of Sierra Tucson’s Mood & Anxiety Program is to help you decrease the symptoms with which you have been struggling and provide you with improved functioning in everyday life.
