Increased Precautions We're Taking in Response to COVID-19

LAST UPDATED ON 12/17/2020

As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at Sierra Tucson to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at Sierra Tucson.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Options for telehealth visitation are continuously evaluated so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

  • All staff has received infection prevention and control training.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided.
  • Patient care supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer are being monitored and utilized.
  • Temperature and symptom screening protocols are in place for all patients and staff.
  • Social distancing strategies have been implemented to ensure that patients and staff maintain proper distance from one another at all times.
  • Cleaning service contracts have been reviewed for additional support.
  • Personal protective equipment items are routinely checked to ensure proper and secure storage.
  • CDC informational posters are on display to provide important reminders on proper infection prevention procedures.
  • We are in communication with our local health department to receive important community-specific updates.

The safety of our patients, their families, and our employees is our top priority, and we will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with COVID-19.

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips that can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then immediately dispose of the tissue.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Personalized Treatment for Members of the LGBTQIA+ Community

Sierra Tucson – Ranked #1 in Newsweek’s list of Best Addiction Treatment Centers in Arizona for 2020!

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are at a higher risk for struggling with addiction concerns and mental health disorders. Sierra Tucson has the programming, policies and professionals in place to ensure that these individuals receive the personalized, supportive treatment they deserve.

A Safe & Welcoming Environment

For those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual or otherwise, it’s vital to participate in treatment in an environment that provides safety, support and understanding.

At our facility, we believe that inclusion is best promoted by an immersive community. Patients will find a zero tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination. Those from all genders and sexualities are part of the Sierra Tucson milieu, and we design all programming to address the unique needs of our LGBTQIA+ patients.

We also offer gender-neutral bathrooms for an added level of comfort and support.

Dedicated Groups for Healing

Individuals who are participating in residential treatment will have access to two weekly LGBTQIA+ support groups. We also offer individual therapy sessions that address sexuality and gender for patients on an as-needed basis.

Topics will vary depending on the specific needs of the participants in each session. All these support groups are led by a master’s-level therapist who identifies as LGBTQIA+.

Supportive, Experienced Staff

All clinicians at Sierra Tucson have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population, and for our clinical director, this is a particular point of emphasis.

Sierra Tucson’s clinical director is a certified transgender care therapist (TCT) and provides supervision to clinical staff members surrounding any patients who identify as transgender. All our clinical staff members deliver affirming and integrative care, with elements tailored specifically for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

We recognize that each LGBTQIA+-identifying patient who is struggling has had unique experiences that have led them to us, and we make it our mission to provide compassionate, personalized care that can begin to plant the seeds of change toward better, healthier days ahead.

My treatment experience taught me how to live. My life before was a fast track to death.
