Individuals involved in the criminal justice system present a unique set of challenges when engaging in addictions treatment. These challenges can include, but are not limited to, physical/mental addiction, mood disturbances, legal requirements, and family dynamics issues. All of these challenges and many more need to be addressed so the individual can begin to move in a direction of positive change. In this presentation, we will discuss the treatment challenges and nuances present within this population, and how treatment and supervision must work together to support the individuals seeking sobriety and a new life.
Please note: This is a complimentary webinar worth 1 CE credit for attending the live presentation in its entirety.
Learning Objectives:
1) List 3 types of accommodations Criminal Justice participants might need while participating in treatment services and why.
2) Define 2-3 treatment modalities that are most effective with this population.
3) Explain why the Criminal Justice and treatment systems need to work in unison to deliver effective care and supervision.
4) Explain how to serve an underserved population who are often time written off as a lost cause”
