Event Description:

In this workshop, we will define what internet, gaming and social media addiction are, the significance of it and how the unhealthy relationship evolves. Most importantly we will reflect on how gaming and internet impact us as individuals and our relationships. We will have a lively discussion on how technology has changed the dynamic of families, friendships and partnerships. We will learn with how to set limits around technology, healthy boundaries and learn other tools to manage internet and gaming also.

About the Presenter: 

Sherri Ardekani is a graduate of Saint Louis University. She has over 15 years of clinical experience, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  Sherri started her career in community mental health working in an adolescent residential substance abuse program. In 2017, Sherri joined STL DBT as an individual therapist and skills group trainer. She found this practice to be one of the most evidence based approaches in helping people achieve a life worth living.  She primarily works with those suffering from suicidal ideation, self-harm, depression, anxiety and relational issues. In April 2019, Sherri decided to start her own private practice called Best Self Counseling, LLC. Her mission is to help people achieve their best self by removing the barriers that stand in the way of accomplishing goals. Sherri works with adolescents and adults ranging from 12 years and older. Her specialties include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Supportive Therapy. Sherri works with a clients who experience depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship issues, trauma, and post-traumatic stress.  In addition, Sherri is fluent in Farsi. She was raised in Iranian-American family and is competent in treating individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
