Steven Gresham, PhD
Primary Therapist, Trauma
Having always been fascinated by alternative healing practices, the workings of the brain, and the psychology of addiction, Dr. Steven Gresham joined Sierra Tucson in 2015. Prior to Sierra Tucson, he worked as a juvenile probation Officer before pursuing his formal education in counseling. He became an adult university student and earned his degrees in counseling, attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University in 1996 and following up with a Master’s Degree in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology in 2009, both from Westbrook University. He has worked in residential pain programs, teaching relaxation, Chi Gong, and healing through breath. He became certified by Dr. Stanislav Grof in the practice of Holotropic Breathwork, is licensed as a chemical dependency professional, and he is trained as Neurofeedback and Bio-feedback practitioner. He also has training in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and has more than a decade of experience working with first-responder trauma. Steve carries with him a unique set of skills in both main stream psychology and alternative approaches and firmly believes in having an open door for dialogue with colleagues and patients. Outside of therapy work, he enjoys woodworking and spending time with his wife and dog, camping and hiking.
