Gabrielle Scott

Primary Therapist

A Primary Therapist, Gabrielle Scott, has worked with women in recovery from eating disorders and as a primary therapist for individuals in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse. She is passionate about social advocacy for people of color and has served on the Diversity Inclusion Committee at Sierra Tucson where she focused on integrating treatment methods that improve healthcare for minorities. Prior to her work at Sierra Tucson, Gabrielle worked with medical professionals in Three Hills, Jamaica providing health screenings to adults and children and teaching psychoeducational classes on symptoms and treatment methods for anxiety and depression.

 

Gabrielle received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and religious studies at the University of Arizona and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Arizona University. Throughout her Master’s program, Gabrielle completed her internship hours abroad in Jamaica and at Mirasol Recovery Center in Arizona. She is receiving her PhD in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is researching mental healthcare for minorities, cultural disparities, and its influence on substance abuse, and how the intersections of race, class, and gender contribute to addictive behaviors. Outside of therapy and research, Gabrielle enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and going to the beach.
