Workshop Description:
Join Mark Pirtle, DPT, for a life-changing “edutainment” 1-day workshop for both Resident and Family Member Alumni. If you are struggling with stress or stress-related illnesses, or you simply want to live more healthfully and happily, you won’t want to miss this event. Dr. Pirtle masterfully uses stories, props, and practices to illustrate how stress causes sickness, and how mindfulness heals. The workshop is not only fascinating; it is fun. Participants learn how a daily mindfulness practice can transform life’s turmoil into transcendence. Lastly, this workshop offers a way to integrate all of your Sierra Tucson experiences and insights, and keep them alive in your life! Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.

Workshop Objectives:

• Participants learn that “habits” of attention cause stress and stress can cause illness
• Participants learn about awareness, and how to use awareness skills to change or heal
• Participants learn to use mindfulness to work with pain, strong emotions, and urges
• Participants learn how to start their own daily mindfulness practice, and take it home

About Mark Pirtle, DPT:
Dr. PurtleDr. Mark Pirtle is among those at the forefront of integral thinking in recovery. He is a businessman, filmmaker, author, public speaker, and true “innerpreneur.” After completing his doctorate in physical therapy, he became deeply interested in Buddhist psychology as it applies to healing stress-related illnesses. His mindfulness-based curriculum was used to develop the first ever Complex Pain Program at Sierra Tucson in 2007. Subsequently, he was asked to join the faculty for the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine Fellowship Program. He continues to contract with Sierra Tucson and serves as Miraval Resort & Spa’s Stress Illness Specialist.
