Chicago Alumni Workshop

AR-LogoTag-PMS-300x189“The Topic Everyone Wants to Avoid”

September 9, 2017

Presenter:
Jens Michael Hussey, LCPC, CADC

Event Description:

Relapse is a discussion topic that many people in recovery and their families avoid. It elicits distressing memories and uncomfortable emotions, and can create fear. In fact, some individuals feel that discussing it will even trigger use. Yet, the biggest mistake a person in recovery makes is not having a relapse prevention plan in place. The statistics on relapse are daunting – and they are especially high for those in their first year of recovery. The good news is that relapse can be avoided when people in recovery and their loved ones recognize and understand the warning signs and take proactive measures before returning to old behaviors.

This interactive workshop will assist both Resident and Family Member Alumni in identifying those warning signs specific to their own situation, as well as review practical steps that can thwart a relapse and help them make the healthiest decision that supports lasting recovery.
