Sierra Tucson’s Program for Sexual and Trauma Recovery
Am I a Sex Addict?
Do you feel unable to control your sexual thoughts or behaviors? Have you risked your relationship, job, health or finances, or suffered other negative consequences in order to continue your sexual activities? These are the primary signs of sexual addiction – a very real and very damaging disorder that can impact every area of your life.
Is Sexual Addiction Treatment Necessary?
By the nature of the disorder, sex addicts have difficulty distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy sexual behaviors. For this reason, sexual addiction is difficult to overcome without professional sexual addiction treatment and intervention.
At Sierra Tucson, our Sexual Compulsivity Group is designed to provide therapy for men and women with issues of sexual addiction/compulsivity (including Internet addiction), co-sexual addiction, and sex and love addiction. In a highly structured and supervised setting, you will begin to understand the emotional cues and circumstances that trigger your sexual thoughts and compulsive sexual behavior.
Through intensive group and family therapy, 12-Step meetings, and healthy recreation, our staff of sexual addiction experts will develop an individualized treatment program that helps you get your emotional needs met through healthy interactions with other people. We will also guide you through the feelings of guilt, shame, and depression often associated with sexual addiction.
The Role of Trauma
The Program for Sexual and Trauma Recovery also provides a Trauma/Abuse Group to help patients who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to process and heal from their experiences of childhood or adult sexual and/or non-sexual abuse. Frequently, trauma is a factor in the development of compulsive behaviors and has a part in causing relapse. Sierra Tucson’s compassionate staff has the expertise and compassion to help patients find healing from trauma, so they can rebuild their lives with a strong emotional foundation to stabilize their recovery.
